'Rainbow Heart'

I finished my 'Rainbow Heart' felt applique design. I have had it printed on some postcards and some folded cards too. They will make great Valentines cards or little "love you" notes : )

I am hoping to work on alot more illustrations for cards, many ideas in the pipeline : )

Big Bags Of Fluff

I have been busy designing mixed bags of fluff ( Merino wool top/roving ) for any budding feltmakers out there! I know when I started feltmaking how hard it was to buy assorted bags of funky colours, so I have some designed some gorgeous colour combinations.
♥ Rainbow mix
♥ Mermaids mix
♥ Peacock mix
These will be available in my Etsy shop and will come beautifully arranged in a resealable bag.
Colour is my thing, so it has been so much fun putting these colours together and I do hope to see some photos of anything made with these mixes : )

Etsy Treasury

Etsy have started doing some new stuff on the front page. Showing items from Time Machine 2, Pounce and making there own collections using search terms such as "turquoise" "forest" "sweetheart". I really like this idea, but I do hope it doesn't take over from the treasuries too much. I love waiting in anticipation for a treasury with my collection of favourite items or work from my CIC team mates. Of course I love perusing the treasuries especially for any 'Rainbow' ones and then that lovely feeling when I see a yellow star : )
This is a super colourful treasury my work is in at the moment, created by a very talented CIC team member zoewoods.

Merino & Silk Blends

Today i have been doing a fun job! Sorting through all my *fluff* collection and choosing colours for some new merino & silk blends I am designing. I will be using these for my felted soap, bracelets, beads and lots of new projects I am working on. I will also be selling a rainbow of fibre blends in my Etsy shop when they are finished : )
I have to add this quote I just read over in the forums on Etsy, I LOVE IT !!
" Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass....It's about learning to dance in the rain"

Making R A I N B O W S

I had to get this snap shot of my desk, it is a true making rainbows shot .. i love it!! ♥
I have started making a new rainbow for my logo and for a postcard design, the one i have been using was a card i made for a friends new baby and it was not the best photo of the felt art work!

I made another train card! I do love these I wish i could make them faster so i could offer them in my shop..maybe i will get faster with practice. I love personalised items and think it is a great thing to offer to customers, will have to ponder on making it financially viable!

♥Love Etsy Love ♥

I love Etsy!
One of my felt peacock feather hair slides was featured in a lovely treasury, alongside some other fantastic etsy creations. Whilst checking out some of the great items I found this amazing necklace, Caribbean Surf Collar by NEMETON

Being totally impressed by its wonderful beauty and magical mermaidness I 'hearted' it and browsed the rest of nemeton's etsy wonderland! I was very impressed with what i found so I 'hearted' her shop so i could find it again. Later that day I received a convo from Lynn of nemeton saying I was her 400th heart and it was her 'Etsyversary' week so she would like to send me a 'little something' to say thank you.

♥WOW - how totally lovely!!!!
I received this little package in the post today with special rainbow ribbon too!

And inside was this totally gorgeous charm/keyring, which is now hanging from my bag in all its beady, sparkling glory!
Lynn Davy of Nemeton describes herself as an eccentric English seed bead artist who loves to create colourful, original jewellery with lots of texture and attention to detail. All the pieces she sells are her own original designs and handmade by her. Every piece, no matter how simple, is unique and will never be exactly repeated - even her kits are individually packed so no two are identical - so you can be sure you will never meet someone else wearing your necklace!

Her work has been featured in many of the major beading magazines (Beadwork, Bead & Button, Step by Step Beads, Bead) on both sides of the Atlantic. Her signature design is a lush fringed 'Garden' collar encrusted with beaded flowers and leaves. She also loves to make elaborate necklaces incorporating handmade lampwork glass beads by her favourite bead artists. Her inspiration comes from the beautiful coast and countryside near her home, and from the tiny details she observes in nature; She loves to spend happy hours gazing into rockpools whenever she gets the chance, although with another day job and a young family she doesn't get those chances very often!
A few of my favourites from her shop!

'Mermaids Euphoria'

'Mermaids Euphoria'

I can see the mermaids swimming in tropical seas and showering in waterfalls, using this soft and colourful felted soap!
I wanted to make some new felted soaps for my shop as they have been so popular : )
I took my inspiration from a felt wallhanging I made which was inspired by dreams of tropical oceans. The base is a blend of fresh ocean turquoises, greens and blues with highlights of orange, pink, purple and lime green.

New Years Resolutions & Surprises

One of my new years resolutions was to do some sorting/decluttering everyday, I don't have too much stuff really but i do tend to keep things for "when i might need them". Also since my Mum passed away i have a serious amount of her stuff to try and sort through. So i am getting into practice sorting my stuff. I thought i would start with my college & uni work which I really don't need but its very hard to get rid of when i spent serious hours doing and serious money mounting everything on mount board and presenting in A1 plastic wallets!
Even though this work is from 12 years ago - you can still see the rainbow love ♥ and i havn't thrown it all out i couldn't, just minimised it slightly!
I was TOTALLY amazed to find this piece of felt......
I really thought i had never made felt... never even heard of feltmaking before... and was even shocked after doing a degree in textile design no one had ever told me about feltmaking. Well i stand corrected... here it is the evidence.. and looking at it now i can vaguely remember making it when I was about 17 on my BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design. Either it was the lack of brightly coloured fluff or some other important thing on my mind like boys, ciggie breaks or nights out.. who knows....
It probably just wasn't the right time in my life for feltmaking!

I was invited to join the 'Crafting in Colour' Etsy team, whose mission is to keep Etsy bright and colourful - well how could i refuse an offer like that! My first tribute to my new team mates was an Etsy treasury and with valentines the next big date it had to be all about the love ♥♥♥ ( i just learnt how to do those litttle hearts they are so.... lovely!! ♥)
Its not my usual rainbow treasury, but its pretty good am hoping to get a front page one day!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE

This is the beginnings of a Valentines card design I am working on at the moment. I was hoping to get this done before Christmas, but I was so busy with my etsy shop it got postponed!
I am finding it hard to get back into the swing of things after such a busy Christmas!
I have a slight artists block, with so many ideas and things I want to make and designs I want to work on that I am finding it difficult to know where to start. I have done my usual lists, but they don't seem to be helping either! I think really it boils down to there not being enough hours in the day!!
